Abstract
Supply chains are a critical component both of the success of your business and of your sustainability profile. Market leaders who engage with their customers and suppliers and forge mutually-beneficial relationships in their supply chain will benefit from competitive advantages, opportunities for innovation, enhanced problem solving and improved sustainability.
Dr. Daniel Pedersen has extensive hands-on experience in quality management, environmental management and the development of multiple-stakeholder frameworks for leadership in sustainability. This presentation will outline practical principles from these disciplines for creating a trustful partnership among industry stakeholders, and how they, together, can engage the entire supply chain to create sustainable growth and effectively manage risk.
He will also describe a case study of global leaders bringing together diverse stakeholders in a pre-competitive framework: The Sustainability Consortium has identified the most important issues for hundreds of product categories, established KPIs, and created reporting tools that enhance the communication throughout the supply chain. This framework has led to proactive cooperation among suppliers, manufacturers and retailers, with the support of NGOs and academics, to identify issues before they become problems and create win-win synergies for sustainable growth.
